Officers respond to aggravated battery report, locate evidence of shots fired

Arrested:  John M. Koenig, 55, Boise

Charged:  Aggravated Assault (F), Aggravated Battery (F)

On Sunday morning at around 2:30 a.m. Boise Police officers responded to a report of an aggravated battery which occurred on the 500 block of S. Victoria Drive.  Reports indicated that a man had attacked his female roommate, including pointing a gun at her and eventually firing the weapon four times.  The woman was able to struggle with the man over the gun and thankfully was not struck when the weapon was fired.  The woman fought off the suspect and ran out of the house.  She ran to a nearby business and had employees contact police.  Patrol officers quickly responded to the residence and located the suspect on the front porch with two pistols in his hands.  He followed officer’s commands and set the weapons down, and was taken into custody without incident.  Members of the BPD Criminal Investigation Division also responded to the scene and located evidence that one of the pistols had been fired, as well as other evidence of a struggle.  Officers transported the suspect, identified as John Koenig, to the Ada County Jail where he was booked for felony aggravated battery and aggravated assault.  The victim was checked by paramedics on scene and cleared.
