Boise man arrested, charged for Tuesday bank robbery

Arrested: Ethan A. Pruatt, 28, Boise

Upon investigation by the Boise Police Violent Crimes Unit, the suspect in today’s bank robbery has been booked into the Ada County Jail and charged with felony robbery.  BPD Patrol officers located 28-year-old Ethan Pruatt driving in the area soon after the robbery and noted that he fit the suspect description.  A traffic stop was conducted and Pruatt was taken into custody without incident.     


One Boise Police officer in route to the robbery was involved in a crash on Chinden Blvd near E. Veterans Memorial Pkwy.  The officer’s vehicle was struck by a driver turning right on a red light.  Garden City Police investigated the crash and cited the other driver for failure to yield.  Neither the officer nor the other driver were injured in the crash.

Around 3:00 pm Boise Police responded to a report of a bank robbery on the 1600 block of W. State Street.  The suspect provided a note demanding money and left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.  The suspect did not display a weapon and was wearing a hat, a hooded jacket and he had something covering his face.


Officers began searching the area for the suspect and a possible vehicle linked to the suspect.  During that search, a subject was located near N. 32nd St. and State Street.  As the investigation continued, Lowell Elementary School was temporally placed into lockdown as a safety precaution. Following further investigation, officers took the suspect into custody.  The lockdown at Lowell Elementary has been lifted.


The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released as it becomes available.
