Suspect charged with aggravated battery after fight with a knife

Arrested: Mohammed Naish, 53, no known address

Charges: Aggravated Battery (F)

 Around 12:45 this afternoon Boise Police were dispatched to a fight with a knife near 8th and Main in downtown Boise. There were multiple bystanders who attempted to intervene including one man, a retired law enforcement deputy, who was able to disarm the suspect. Upon arrival, officers detained the suspect and paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital. The victim, a 46-year-old male, received serious but non-life threatening injuries. After further investigation officers learned that the victim and the suspect were in an argument when the suspect pulled out a knife and used it to cut and stab the victim. The suspect, Mohammed Naish, was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charge.

BPD is investigating an incident near 8th/Main. One suspect is in custody & one victim is in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A preliminary investigation shows there was an altercation & the suspect used an edged weapon to injure the victim. Investigation ongoing.
