The Boise Police Department is happy to announce the next session of the Boise Police Department Citizen Police Academy. Participants will have the unique opportunity to take an “inside” look at the Boise Police Department. The goal of the Citizen Police Academy is to enhance communication between police officers and the public they serve by giving citizens unique and valuable insight into the training, challenges and rewards of working in the Boise Police Department. Participation in the CPA is also a great opportunity for citizens to meet and get to know the officers that keep our community safe.
What: BPD Citizen Police Academy
When: March 6, 2019 to May 22, 2019
The Curriculum: 11 Wednesday night classes 6:30-9:30 p.m. (Class will not be held during Spring Break)
One ride-along with a Boise Police officer
Two Saturday sessions (EVOC driving & Range Day)
One optional weekday session (Jail Tour)
Where: Boise Police Department Headquarters – 333 N. Mark Stall Place, Boise. Unless otherwise noted.
Classes May Cover: Patrol overview, Community Oriented Policing, Recruitment and Training, Crime Prevention/Identity Theft, DUI & Traffic Enforcement, Drug Recognition Expert, Internet Safety, Law Enforcement Stress, Critical Incident Overview, Dispatch and 911 Calls, Building Searches, K-9 Demonstrations, Narcotics and Gangs, Crime Scene Investigation & Boise Police Crime Lab, Criminal Investigations, Domestic Violence, Victim Witness Program, School Resource Officers.
