Arrested: Victor Bran-Nava, 20, Boise

Charges: Aggravated Battery (F) Intimidation of a States witness (F)

Boise Police have identified and arrested one of the suspects in the shooting near Cassia and Phillippi this morning.  Victor Bran-Nava turned himself into police this afternoon and is being charged with felony aggravated battery and felony intimidation of a states witness.  A second suspect is still outstanding.

What happened: Victor Bran-Nava has had previous altercations with the victim and evidence suggests he was seeking retaliation against the victim.  Nava was arrested on 9/28/18 for battery against the same victim. Nava and two other suspects, one of whom is a 17-year-old juvenile, approached the victim who was seated in a car and proceeded to punch and kick the victim.  Nava then used a gun to shoot at the victim but struck the juvenile suspect instead.  Nava fired the gun again, striking the victim.  The three suspects, including the injured juvenile, fled the scene. The injured juvenile was taken by another subject to a local hospital.  Officers are still working to locate the third suspect and the investigation is ongoing.  None of the injuries are life-threatening.

Boise Police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of an apartment complex near Cassia and Phillippi which occurred at approximately 5:40 a.m. on Thursday.  Officers quickly responded to the scene and immediately located a male adult victim who had been shot once.  That victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Officers set up a perimeter around the crime scene and ensured there was no longer a threat to public safety.  Evidence gathered indicated the suspected shooter had fled the area in a vehicle.  Not long after officers received word that another adult male related to the incident had arrived at an area hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.  Evidence gathered on scene indicate that the suspect and the two men who had been shot know each other.  Officers have identified the suspected shooter, an adult male, and are attempting to locate him at this time.  The investigation remains ongoing.
