Man arrested after disturbing the peace near school

Arrested:  James E. Van Camp, 42, Boise

Charged:  Disturbing the Peace (m), Contempt of Court (m)

At around 12:20 p.m. the Student Resource Officer at Boise High School was made aware of a problem subject who had been reportedly approaching students and disturbing them as they returned from lunch in the area just next to the campus.  According to a number of witness reports, the man was acting strangely and yelling obscenities at the students.  The SRO placed the school in “shelter in place” mode and began looking for the man while other nearby officers responded to the area.  Boise Police Bicycle Unit officers quickly located the man nearby on State Street between 5th Street and 6th Street and took him into custody without incident.  The suspect, identified as Van Camp, had a misdemeanor warrant.  He was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked for the warrant and disturbing the peace.
