Following a lengthy investigation, Boise Police detectives have identified and charged an 18-year-old Boise man for two armed robberies in March of 2017 and a separate burglary in 2018.
Arrested: Andrew E. Drake, 18, Boise
Charged: Robbery (F), Robbery- Attempted (F), Burglary (F), Grand Theft (F)
What Happened: Detectives from the BPD Violent Crimes Unit began investigating two armed robberies in 2017 that were similar in nature that occurred in the same area of town on March 6th and March 12th. On the night of the 6th the suspect walked into a convenience store on the 6400 block of State Street and brandished a knife, demanding money from the store employee. He fled the area on foot after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash. On the night of March 12th a man who had a similar description walked into a restaurant on the 7000 block of State Street and brandished a hatchet. The suspect demanded money, but was not successful in the robbery and fled the restaurant. Upon investigation, detectives located evidence that indicated Andrew Drake was responsible for robbing one business and attempting to rob another. Officers also determined that the suspect committed the burglary of a business in the area of State and Gary Lane on October 17th of this year, resulting in the theft of over $6,000.00 worth of merchandise. Drake was already in custody in the Ada County Jail on separate charges out of Garden City when officers made contact with him and charged him with the four new felonies.
Officers would like to thank the public for sending in numerous tips throughout the investigations.
