Update: Suspect arrested after aggravated assault in Boise parking lot

Arrested: James Bartley, 46, Boise 

Charges: Aggravated Assault (F)

Boise Police have arrested a suspect following an investigation into an aggravated assault in a parking lot near Orchard and Overland.  Officers received a tip that the suspect, James Bartley, was living on the 1000 block of S. Hilton St.  Officers were able to confirm the suspect’s name and address.  Following further investigation, officers from the US Marshalls Task Force and members of the Boise Police Neighborhood Contact Unit made contact with the suspect today.  Bartley initially refused to surrender and the Boise Police Special Operations Unit was called to the scene but was not activated as the suspect was taken into custody without incident around 2:00 p.m.  Bartley was taken to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above charges.

Boise Police are asking for help identifying a suspect in an aggravated assault.  Around 11 pm Sunday night the suspect was acting suspiciously in a parking lot near Orchard and Overland.  A man in the area approached the suspect to check on him.  When the suspect began to yell at the man, the man started recording the suspect with his cell phone.  During that time, the suspect pulled a hand gun from his shirt and pointed it at the victim.  Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is asked to call dispatch 208-377-6790 or Crime Stoppers: at 208-343-COPS (2677),, or leave a tip using the “P3 Tips” app for your mobile device.
