Man arrested after attempting to sell stolen equipment; Suspicious activity leads to discovery of pounds of illegal drugs hidden in car; BPD Watch Log

Arrested:  Justin D. Knight, 33, Parma  

Charged:  Grand Theft- Two Counts (F), Burglary- Three Counts (F), Possession of a Controlled Substance- Two Counts (F)

Boise Police officers responded to a retail establishment on Tuesday evening after receiving a tip that a man may be attempting to sell stolen items to the store.  Officers made contact with the man and located evidence that the items he was trying to sell had been reported stolen from a vehicle and trailer that had been parked at a hotel on Parkcenter sometime on Monday.  Over $10,000 of musical equipment was reported stolen in the burglary.  Upon investigation officers took the suspect, identified as Knight, into custody and charged him with felony grand theft and burglary.  While detaining Knight officers located a baggie of suspected heroin and a baggie of suspected meth on his person.  Officers also found that Knight was currently a suspect in a separate theft investigation involving a bicycle, for which a felony grand theft and burglary charge were also brought against the suspect.  Knight was transported to the Ada County Jail under the above charges.     


Arrested:  Briyan E. Paniagua Chayrez, 24, Mexicali, MX

Charged:  Drug Trafficking- Two Counts (F)

On Saturday, Boise Police officers made contact with a man who was acting suspiciously in the parking lot of a business on the 8300 block of W. Overland Road at 3:00 p.m.  Upon investigation, officers located evidence that the man was in possession of suspected controlled substances.  The suspect, later identified as Paniagua Chayrez, was taken into custody without incident and Boise Police BANDIT narcotics officers responded to the scene.  A search of the vehicle he was driving revealed seven large packages of suspected meth and a container of suspected heroin.  In total, the packages of meth weighed in at approximately seven pounds and the heroin weighed approximately 556 grams, over half a kilogram.  Detectives estimate the total street value of the seizure to be over $110,000.  Paniagua Chayrez was booked into the Ada County Jail on two felony charges of drug trafficking.
