Around 2:45 this afternoon Boise police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with no license plates near Main and N. Garden St. The car did not pull over and continued to drive away from officers eventually driving at a high rate of speed down Fairview. Officers did not pursue and lost visual of the vehicle. A short time later officers were dispatched to a report of a car that crashed into a fire hydrant on W. Fairview and S. 25th St. The driver ran from the scene. Officers quickly responded and searched the area.  With help from multiple citizens who witnessed the suspect running from the scene, police were able to find the man hiding in a nearby backyard. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.  He is being taken to the hospital and charges are pending.  No one else was injured in the accident.

Police and Boise Fire are still clearing the scene but all roads remain open.
