Arrested: David McGinnis, 29, Boise
Charges: Grand Theft (F), Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (F), Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Manufacture or Deliver (F), Possession of a Controlled Substance (F) – 2 counts
During the investigation into a shooting on Palouse Street last Thursday, officers served a search warrant in the bedroom of the home where the victim, David McGinnis, was staying. During the search, officers found a stolen firearm and illegal drugs including baggies of methamphetamine and cocaine. The bedroom belonged to McGinnis who is a felon and prohibited from possessing a weapon. McGinnis was shot following an altercation in the home on Thursday. Upon his release from the hospital on 12/4 and after further investigation, officers arrested McGinnis and booked him into the Ada County Jail on the above charges.
Officers have not received any substantial information about the suspects in Thursday’s shooting and the search for them remains ongoing. Vehicle description: The suspects are described as two white males driving a silver, older model, two door car. The windows are potentially damaged or shot out. The car was last seen traveling north on Columbus from Palouse St.

At 9:59 am Boise Police responded to a shots fired call on the 2300 block of W. Palouse St. The suspected shooter fled the scene before police arrived. One injured victim was also taken to the hospital in a private vehicle before emergency personnel arrived on scene. The victim is an adult male and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Boise Police are interviewing witnesses and the investigation is ongoing. Preliminary reports suggest that there was an altercation in the home before multiple shots were fired and the suspects fled the scene. Officers do not believe the suspects are still in the area of shooting and do not believe there is an ongoing threat in the neighborhood.
