Boise Police investigate overnight rape, find suspect deceased

At 1:50 am Boise Police responded to a report of a rape in the area of Compass Dr. and Hill Rd.  The suspect, who was known to the victim, fled the scene before police arrived.  Police made contact with the victim and safely escorted her out of the home. The victim was then transported to a local hospital. Boise Police detectives were assigned to investigate and patrol officers began looking for the suspect who was believed to be armed.

Around 4:15 am Boise Police officers observed a vehicle matching a description of the rape suspect’s vehicle near N. Stone Creek Way and Hill Road.  When officers turned on the overhead lights in their patrol car, the suspect drove off at a high rate of speed.  Officers did not pursue the suspect, additional officers arrived in the area and the suspect’s vehicle was again located on the 3700 block of N. Stone Creek Way. As officers approached the vehicle they found the suspect deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.  Officers did not fire their weapons. The man’s identity will be released by the Ada County Coroner once proper notifications have been made.

Boise Police detectives continue to investigate the rape and the death of the suspect on Stone Creek Way. Boise Police Victim Witness Coordinators are continuing to assist the victim.
