Officers investigating early morning shooting, burglary; Anyone with information asked to call Police

Boise Police officers responded to reports of a shooting which occurred at the intersection of 27th Street and Stewart Avenue at just after 7:00 a.m.  Officers quickly arrived on scene and later located a male adult with a single gunshot wound.  Paramedics also arrived and transported the man to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

What Happened:  Reports indicate that earlier a man was found to be burglarizing a home on the 2600 block of Regan Avenue prior to the shooting.  The homeowner confronted the burglar, who ran away from the home with stolen  property.  The homeowner gave chase and again confronted the burglar at 27th and Stewart.  The suspect pulled a gun and shot the homeowner and then fled the scene.  The victim returned to his home where he was contacted by police.

Officers quickly set up a perimeter around the area and conducted an extensive area search, including the use of a K9 to attempt to track, but the suspect was not located.  The Boise Police Violent Crimes Unit and Crime Scene technicians continue to investigate.

Suspect Description:    The suspect is described as a white male, being approximately 5'11" tall and weighing 170 pounds.  He is described as having medium length, blondish-brown hair and a goatee.  He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt or possibly hooded sweatshirt, jeans, with a black or black checkered tactical style backpack.
