UPDATE: Shots Fired on McKinney St.

Suspect: Matthew Haberstick, 32, Boise

Citation: Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm in City Limits (m)

The suspect detained at the scene of a shots fired call today was cited for misdemeanor unlawful discharge of a firearm in city limits.  In addition to hearing several shots as they were arriving at 9:30 am, officers discovered multiple bullet holes inside the home on McKinney St.

Around 9:30 am Boise Police responded to a welfare check and reports of shots fired at a residence on McKinney St. near Ustick. The first officer on scene heard shots being fired and then saw a man on the front porch of the home with an AK-47.   Officers commanded the suspect to put down the weapon and he eventually complied. The suspect was taken to the hospital for evaluation and is currently being detained. Officers received unclear information that additional suspects and victims may be in the home.  Boise Police Officers worked to secure the scene and search the home for suspects and victims.  BPD used a robot, K9 and the Special Operations Unit in the search. Officers did not locate anyone in the home. There are no reports of injuries and the investigation is ongoing.

Officers are currently on scene at a residence in the area of Ustick Road and McKinney Street after responding to reports of a welfare check and possible shots fired call.  Officers have made contact with one subject and are working to secure the scene at this time. Citizens are urged to stay out of this area while officers continue to investigate.
