Jewelry theft from retail store ends in two Felony charges; Daily incident report

Arrested: Steven R. Oldham, 41, Caldwell

Charges: Burglary (F), Grand Theft (F), Resisting and Obstructing (m), Trespassing (m)

Boise Police responded to a report of a theft in progress at a retail store on the 400 block of Milwaukee Street yesterday, December 9th, at approximately 8:30 p.m. Store employees tell police that they witnessed the suspect approach a counter and conceal several items of jewelry. The suspect then left the store without paying for them. A Boise Police Retail Crimes Officer confronted the suspect outside the store. The suspect, who appeared to be intoxicated at the time, physically resisted the officer as he was taken into custody. Officers recovered more than $2,000.00 worth of jewelry from the suspect's person. The suspect had been previously trespassed from the property resulting in the misdemeanor trespassing charge. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

The Boise Police Department has developed a positive, productive working relationship with employees from many local retail stores, large and small, local and national chains. The goal of the program is to work with retailers and the Boise business community to reduce retail theft and fraud, crimes that have significant impacts on consumer prices.

Arrested: Chance L. Pearson, 28, Boise

Charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Meth)(F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m)

Boise Police on patrol early this morning, December 10th, at approximately 1:33 a.m. observed a vehicle conduct an illegal turn near South Orchard Road and West Franklin Street. As officers contacted the driver, a Police K-9 alerted on the vehicle indicating the likely presence of drugs. A check through Boise City Records indicated the suspect was currently on parole. Officers contacted the suspect’s parole officer who requested that officers conduct a fourth amendment waiver compliance check at the scene. A search of the vehicle revealed multiple packages containing a combined total package weight of more than 26 grams of meth. Officers also found scales and other items of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

Warrant Arrested: Catherine T. Robinson, 50, Eagle

   Warrant Charges:  Burglary (F)

The suspect was taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant for Burglary yesterday.

The arrest warrant stems from an ongoing investigation into the theft of personal items from vehicles in a parking lot on the 700 block of West Cunningham Place in June of 2012. Evidence indicates the suspect entered the vehicles and took items from them without permission. Officers later recovered the stolen items and returned them to the owners.  That investigative information was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and resulted in the felony warrant. Further inquiries into this case should be directed to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
