Hit & Run leads to Grand Theft Arrest; Officers Arrest Man for Lewd Conduct with a Minor Child; BPD Daily Incident Report

Arrested: Robert J. Kurth, 25, Boise

Charged: Grand Theft (F), Failure to give information at an accident scene (m), Theft by possession - Warrant (m), Cited for Driving with a Suspended Driver's License, Inattentive Driving, Fail to provide insurance 2nd offense.

Boise Police responded yesterday afternoon to a report of a hit and run crash where the victim chased the suspect to Susan Lane east of Maple Grove Road. The suspect reportedly had fled the scene over a fence prior to officers arriving.

The victim of the hit and run was still on scene and told officers he had been driving east on Franklin Road near Bird Street when the car behind him rear ended his car. The victim told officers he pulled into a nearby parking lot and spoke briefly with the driver who rear ended him before the driver suddenly took off.

Dispatch advised officers the license plate of the vehicle abandoned by the suspect was reported stolen last week from Garden City. Officers checked the VIN number of the vehicle and found it too was reported stolen from a north Boise parking lot December 5th. 

A patrol sergeant was near Maple Grove and Susan when the call came in. The sergeant began searching the area and soon spotted a man matching the suspect description a few blocks away on Milwaukee Street. The officer stopped and contacted the man. Further investigation found him to be the suspect in the hit and run, identified as Kurth. Officers also found the suspect had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for possession of stolen property. Kurth was booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charges. 


Arrested: Roger A. Hankins, 55, Boise

Charged: Lewd Conduct with a Minor (F) 2 counts

Boise Police were notified in October about a possible case of child abuse. Officers investigation found evidence that the suspect had lewd conduct with a minor at a Boise home over the previous summer on at least two occasions. The suspect and victim are known to each other. Detectives with the Boise Police Special Victim's Unit forwarded their investigation to the Ada County Prosecutors for review of criminal charges. A warrant was issued for the suspect's arrest. The suspect was booked into the Ada County Jail last night on the felony charge listed above.


Arrested: Pedro Gonzalez, Jr, 30, Boise

Charged: DUI (F)

An employee of a business on the 1400 block of South Orchard Street called 911 just after midnight this morning reporting that a man had been sitting in a vehicle with the engine running in the parking lot for about 30 minutes. The caller stated they thought the behavior was odd and potentially suspicious and requested officers to check it out. When officers arrived, they found the driver, identified as Gonzalez apparently passed out in the drivers seat with the engine was running. Officers woke him and could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage. His eyes also appeared glassy and bloodshot. The driver failed field sobriety tests and recorded a breath alcohol content of .175/.175. Gonzalez was found to have two prior DUI convictions in July, 2008 and September, 2009, making this arrest a felony.

Arrested: Ryan A. Camargo, 21, Boise

Charged: Trafficking Marijuana (F)

Boise Police officers on patrol Wednesday night, December 18th at 10:49 p.m. witnessed the driver of a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at a stop sign at the intersection of South Columbus and West Targee Streets. The officer stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver identified as Camargo. While speaking with the driver, officers found evidence that there may be illegal drugs in the car. The driver gave officers consent to search the vehicle. During that search, officers located several baggies with a total package weight of 14.2 grams of marijuana along with a digital scale. Officers arrested the suspect on the above charge and booked him into the Ada County Jail.  


Arrested: Austin K. McMahon, 20, Boise

Charged: Contempt (F)

Officers on patrol in the area of South Vista Avenue and Nez Perce Street saw the driver of a vehicle stop past the stop line and into the intersection Wednesday, December 18th at 3:50 p.m. Officers made a traffic stop on the vehicle. A Probation and Parole officer was riding with the Boise Police officer and recognized a passenger in the car as McMahon. McMahon was confirmed to have an active felony drug court bench warrant for his arrest. Officers placed the suspect under arrest and transported him to the Ada County Jail where he was booked on the warrant.
