DUI Driver arrested for Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident; Daily incident report

Arrested: Anthoney, F. Martinez, 21, Caldwell

Charges: Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident (F), Driving Under the Influence (DUI)(m), Open Container (m)

Boise Police observed the suspect vehicle as it ran a red light travelling West on Front Street at Capital Boulevard early this morning, August 1st, at approximately 4:00 a.m. Officers observed the vehicle nearly collide with another car before the driver sped up to 40 miles per hour in a 35 zone. Officers witnessed the vehicle collide with a vehicle at the stop light going West on 9th at 11th street before officers activated emergency lights. The suspect did not stop after the collision, fleeing south on 11th street. The suspect yielded to emergency vehicles a short distance from the crash. Officers observed a spilled bottle of beer on the floor board of the vehicle, resulting in the open container charge. The suspect, who appeared to be very intoxicated at the time, failed two field sobriety tests before refusing to continue. A blood draw was performed for later evidentiary testing. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck by the suspect was transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries at the time.
