Woman Cited for Running a Red Light after hitting Cyclist

Boise, July 30, 2013 - A Boise Police patrol officer cited a woman for running a red light after she hit a cyclist in the intersection of W. Rose Hill and S. Latah Streets. Fortunately, the cyclist was not injured.

What Happened: Boise Police were called by witnesses to the crash at 9:09 this morning. When officers arrived, they found evidence the driver of a large SUV traveling eastbound on Rose Hill ran a red light and hit a cyclist traveling north on Latah. The cyclist, a 30 year old man who had just moved to Boise was knocked to the ground by the collision. He suffered only minor scrapes, however the impact did break the frame of the man's bike. An officer gave the man a ride to his destination.

An officer cited the driver of the SUV, a 30 year old Boise woman for running the red light, a violation of Idaho State Code 49-802(3) which carries a $90 fine.
