Unusual theft leads to Felony arrest

Arrested: Karen J. King, 48, Boise

   Charges: Burglary (F)

Boise Police responded to a report of a theft at a convenience store near Cole Road and Denton Street last night, May 2nd, at approximately 11:00 p.m. Store employees tell police that they witnessed the suspect select a box of wine before going to the bathroom. Inside the bathroom the suspect consumed the contents, leaving the box on the floor and left the business without paying for it. Officers located the suspect moments later and she was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was transported to a local hospital to be medically cleared due to her high level of intoxication. Officers believe the suspect entered the store with the intent to commit the theft resulting in the burglary charge. The suspect was then transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

The Boise Police Department has developed a positive, productive working relationship with loss prevention agents from many local retail stores, large and small, local and national chains. The goal of the program is to work with retailers and the Boise business community to reduce retail theft and fraud, crimes that have significant impacts on consumer prices.
