Officers struggle while trying to arrest a registered sex offender after a break-in: BPD Daily Incident Report

Arrested: Christopher J. Sullivan, 28, Boise

Charged: Battery on a police officer (F) ISC 18-915, Attempted Strangulation (F), Failure to update sex offender registration (F) ISC 18-8311, Malicious Injury to property (m), Resisting & Obstructing an officer (m)

Boise Police were called by a citizen reporting a man had just kicked in the door of his home near N. 17th and W. Bannock Streets late Monday afternoon, Dec. 17th. When officers arrived, they found the suspect , Sullivan and several witnesses. Officers also found evidence the susect had not only kicked in the door of the home, but had also attempted to strangle a victim inside. Information given to officers is the suspect and the adult victim are known to each other.

As officers tried to arrest the suspect, he took off running. An officers chased the suspect into a nearby alleyway. Suddenly, officers say the suspect stopped and began repeatedly punching the officer. The two struggled, and as back-up officers arrived, officers were able to stop the suspect's aggressive actions and take him into custody. The officer was not seriously injured. During the break-in investigation, officers also discovered Sullivan is a registered sex offender and had been living at a nearby home, an address different than his registered address at Ada County. Sullivan was arrested on the above charges and booked into the Ada County Jail.
