Assault with a knife leads to Felony charges; Daily incident report

   Arrested: Thomas L. Herman, 55, Boise

   Charges: Aggravated Assault (F)

    Boise Police responded to a report of a disturbance at a hotel on the 2600 block of West Fairview Avenue late last night, December 26th, at approximately 11:40 p.m. When officers arrived they located a distraught adult female victim near the lobby of the hotel. The victim tells police she had been staying at the hotel with the suspect, who is well known to her, and consuming alcoholic beverages. At one point, the victim tells police the suspect became aggressive, while holding a folding knife the suspect made threats against her life and then attempted to stab her. The victim tells police she managed to get out of the room without injury and waited for the police to arrive. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and the pocket knife was recovered from the suspect's person. Officers believe alcohol was a factor in this incident. After a detailed investigation, the suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

TITLE 18 CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS CHAPTER 9 ASSAULT AND BATTERY 18-905. Aggravated assault defined. An aggravated assault is an assault: (a)With a deadly weapon or instrument without intent to kill; or (b)By any means or force likely to produce great bodily harm.
