Theft from Boise merchant lands suspect in jail on Burglary charge; Daily incident report

Arrested: Alexander M. Bothe, 23, Boise

   Charges: Burglary (F)

Boise Police responded to a report of a theft at a retail store on the 1600 block of South Vista Avenue yesterday, September 18th, at approximately 4:00 p.m. Store employees tell police that they witnessed the suspect fail to pay for items he had selected, leaving the store without providing compensation. Loss prevention employees detained the suspect until officers arrived. During the course of the investigation officers obtained evidence that indicates the suspect may be responsible for multiple trips to the store without paying for merchandise. Officers believe the suspect entered the store with the intent to commit the theft resulting in the burglary charge. Additional charges may be pending. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

The Boise Police Department has developed a positive, productive working relationship with loss prevention agents from many local retail stores, large and small, local and national chains. The goal of the program is to work with retailers to reduce theft and fraud, crimes that can impact consumer prices.
