DUI Driver arrested on weapons charge; Daily incident report

    Arrested: John P. Hoverson, 44, Meridian

    Charges: Convicted Felon in Possession of a Weapon (F), Driving Under the Influence (DUI)(m), Eluding (m), Driving Without Privileges (DWP)(m), Open Container (m), Parole Violation Charges (F)

   Boise Police observed a vehicle swerving across the center lane as it traveled Westbound on Emerald near Camelot early this morning, August 24th, at approximately 2:30 a.m. Officers witnessed the suspect vehicle come within inches of striking a curb. As the vehicle made a turn it drove into the opposite lane of traffic, nearly striking two parked cars located on the west side of Camelot St. At the intersection of Freemont and Camelot officers activated emergency lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle. As officers activated the overhead lights of the marked patrol car, the suspect vehicle failed to stop, and began to accelerate away from the patrol car. The Explorer continued Westbound on Freemont, and made a quick left turn onto Gossett Place. The Explorer then came to a stop in the back driveway of a residence located on the 6900 block of Freemont Street. As soon as the vehicle came to a stop, the suspect quickly exited the vehicle in an attempt to flee. As officers approached the suspect near the front driver's side of the vehicle they could see a handgun laying on the driver's seat. Officers also recovered an open 24 ounce can of malt liquor from the vehicle. The suspect, who appeared to be intoxicated at the time, failed several field sobriety tests and blew a .11/.12 at the Ada County Jail. A check through Ada County Records indicated the suspect was on Felony probation, making the possession of a handgun a felony. The suspect was also was currently suspended from driving.  The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.


    Arrested: Bowen L. Riley, 24, Boise

    Charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance (Morphine)(F), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana)(m), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m), Probation Violation Warrant charges (m)

   Boise Police responded to a residence on the 2800 block of South Zola Avenue to check for a wanted person yesterday, August 23rd, at approximately 4:00 p.m. Officers received permission to enter the residence and arrested Bowen Riley on an outstanding warrant for probation violation. As officers contacted the suspect in a bathroom of the home, they located a spoon with residue and three morphine pills along with a syringe. Officers also recovered a small amount of marijuana from the suspect's pocket. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.
