Traffic stop ends in Felony Delivery of a Controlled Substance arrest

    Arrested: Kevin J. Thomas, 32, Caldwell

    Charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Meth)(F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m), Driving without Privileges (m), Probation Violation charges (m)

   Boise Police on patrol observed a vehicle traveling Westbound on Rose Hill with its high beams on early this morning, May 11th, at approximately 4:30 a.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop near Rose Hill and Latah streets. As officers contacted the driver, Ada County Dispatch confirmed the suspect was currently suspended from driving and had a current warrant for his arrest on probation violation charges. Officers recovered a marijuana cigarette from the door handle of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 8.3 grams total package weight of Meth, scales and packaging materials under the drivers seat. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

TITLE 37 FOOD, DRUGS, AND OIL CHAPTER 27 UNIFORM CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES ARTICLE IV  37-2732.  Prohibited acts A -- Penalties.  (a) Except as authorized by this chapter, it is unlawful for any person to manufacture or deliver, or possess with intent to manufacture or deliver, a controlled substance.(1)   Any person who violates this subsection with respect to: (A)   A controlled substance classified in schedule I which is a narcotic drug or a controlled substance classified in schedule II, except as provided for in section 37-2732B(a)(3), Idaho Code, is guilty of a felony and upon conviction may be imprisoned for a term of years not to exceed life imprisonment, or fined not more than twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000), or both;
