Driver Under the Influence Hits Cars, House in North End

Boise, April 13, 2012 - Boise Police arrested a Nampa man this morning suspected of driving under the influence of prescription drugs. The man is accused of driving into two other cars before hitting a fence then a house on the corner of N. 8th and Sherman Streets.

Arrested: Arthur Dominguez, 58, Nampa

Charge: DUI (m)

What Happened: Boise Police were called at 7:36 this morning by a resident of the home at 8th and Sherman reporting he heard a loud bang, went outside and found a pickup truck had crashed into the corner of his house. The collision ripped the air conditioning box off and broke the home's gas meter. Boise Fire and Intermountain Gas responded and fortunately found the broken meter had not created a gas leak.

While still investigating the crash into the house, Boise Police officers were dispatched to an address several blocks south on 8th Street where witnesses said they had just seen a truck matching the description of the suspect vehicle crash into a parked car and drive away. Investigating officers say it appears the driver of the truck continued north on 8th Street, hit another parked car and crashed through a fence before hitting the house on the corner of Sherman St.

Officers say the driver was too impaired to safely complete field sobriety tests. Officers also found evidence the driver's impairment appears due to prescription and possibly other medications. The driver, Dominguez, was arrested on the charge of Driving Under the Influence and booked into the Ada County Jail at 9:30 a.m..
