Boise Police received a report of a theft from a convenience store on the 5700 block of West Overland early this morning, December 30th, at approximately 30 minutes past midnight. A store employee tells officers the suspect left the store without paying for two beers. Using the description provided by the employee officers observed the suspect drive past them in a nearby parking lot as the suspect vehicle turned North on Curtis Road. Officers activated emergency lights and attempted to pull the vehicle over. The suspect began to pull over and slowed down momentarily before pulling back onto the road and continuing. The suspect repeated this action twice, before accelerating at a higher rate of speed fleeing northbound. The vehicle turned a corner at Robertson and accelerated out of sight. Officers located the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Marvin and Newport after the suspect struck a parked vehicle. The suspect had fled the vehicle and officers located him hiding in a nearby back yard. The suspect resisted officers attempts to take him into custody and were forced to physically restrain him in order to take the suspect into custody. The suspect, who appeared to be very intoxicated at the time, was uncooperative with officers and a blood draw was performed for later evidentiary testing. A check through Ada County Records indicated the suspect was currently suspended from driving. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.
