Arrested: John A. Welsh Jr, 30, Boise

Charges:Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Marijuana)(F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m)

Boise Police on patrol responded to a report of a fight near Five Mile and Ustick last night, August 10th, at approximately 8:00 p.m. When officers arrived the fight had ended and the four subjects involved had left the scene. A short time later officers contacted the suspect, who had been involved in the altercation, walking near Country Squire and Five Mile. As officers contacted the suspect a knife was spotted protruding from the suspects clothing. A search of the suspects clothing for weapons revealed a pipe and marijuana. After the suspects arrest, a search of his pack revealed digital scales, a sealed bag with more marijuana and cash. In total officers recovered approximately 519 grams total package weight of marijuana. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

Arrested: Richard G. Bennett, 38, Boise

  Charges:Burglary (F)

Boise Police responded to a report of a theft at a retail store on the 3500 block of Federal Way yesterday, August 10th, at approximately 3:00 p.m. Store employees tell police that they witnessed the suspect, along with 3 juveniles fill a shopping cart with clothing and then leave the store without  paying for any of the items. When confronted by loss prevention employees the suspects all fled the area. Officers identified the suspects vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near Cole and Camas streets. Officers believe the suspects entered the store with the intent to commit the theft resulting in the burglary charge. Richard Bennett was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges. The three juveniles were all transported to Juvenile Detention and face similar charges.

The Boise Police Department has developed a positive, productive working relationship with loss prevention agents from many local retail stores, large and small, local and national chains. The goal is to work with retailers to reduce theft and fraud, crimes that can impact consumer prices.

Warrant Arrested: Susan P. Garrett, 45, Boise

Warrant Charges:Malicious Injury to Property (F)

The suspect was taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant for Malicious Injury to Property yesterday.

The arrest warrant stems from an ongoing investigation into damage done to several neighbors vehicles that took place in February of this year. Evidence indicates the suspect was involved in causing the damage for unspecified reasons. That investigative information was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and resulted in the felony warrant.
