05-20-11 - Officers Searching for Witnesses to Sexual Assault

Boise, May 20, 2011 - Boise Police SVU detectives are searching for 3 young women who reportedly courageously frightened off a man who attacked and sexually assaulted a woman in an alley in the North End last weekend. Officers want to thank the women, and also see what information they may be able to provide about the suspect.

What Happened: Boise Police were called by a woman Monday who reported she had been attacked and assaulted by a man while she was walking home alone sometime around 1:00 a.m. Sunday, May 15th. The woman says the attack happened in the alley off Pueblo Street between N. 8th and N. 9th Streets. The victim says three young women also walking in the same area saw what was happening and frightened the attacker away. The three women then walked the victim to the safety of her home nearby. The victim says she did not get the names and did not previously know the young women who came to her rescue.

    Suspect Description:Adult light-skinned male, 6'1" - 6'2", wearing a dark sweat shirt.

Boise Police detectives say they'd like to thank the three young women who scared off the attacker and came to the victim's aide. They also hope to speak to the women who are also witnesses to the crime to see if they can provide further information.

Crime Stoppers: If anyone knows who the three young women are who interrupted an attack on a woman in the alley between N. 8th and N. 9th & Pueblo early last Sunday morning, you are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS. You may also log onto, or text CRIMES or 274637, subject: Tip236. Boise Police say any help in identifying the young women is greatly appreciated.

Investigators say it's too early to tell if Sunday mornings attack is related to any other ongoing investigations.
