Arrested: Adam C. Greathouse, 30, Boise

Charge: DUI (F)

Boise Police were called by a citizen reporting a possible drunk driver Sunday night, Feb. 20th just before 11:00 p.m. The citizen was able to give officers a description of the car and a direction of travel - northbound on Maple Grove from Franklin. Despite an extensive area search, officers were unable to locate the vehicle. At 11:09 p.m., police dispatchers received a second call from a citizen who reported hearing a crash in the parking lot of an apartment complex on the 900 blk of N. Maple Grove Rd. Officers responded to find a damaged Toyota sedan. Officers continued to search of the parking lot and soon found a teal 1995 Ford Mustang with damage matching that of the Toyota. The Mustang also matched the description of the possible drunk driver reported just minutes earlier. Officers located the registered owner of the car, identified as Greenhouse, who lived in the same complex. Officers gathered evidence to show Greathouse was the driver and sole occupant of the Mustang that had been driving at Franklin and Maple Grove and had struck the Toyota. The suspect failed field sobriety tests, was arrested, and at the Ada County Jail blew a .201/.199. Greathouse has a felony DUI conviction from March of 2005 making this another felony DUI.

Employees told officers they witnessed the suspect enter the store, select several items, concealed them, then leave the store without paying. Officers investigated and found evidence the suspect Helmer had entered the store with the intention of stealing the items that included a Sirius XM Radio, a Dremel tool, a DVD player, an airsoft gun, gloves, some household products, sock and underwear.
