Detectives arrest alleged fraud suspect in the act; daily incident report

02-10-11 Detectives arrest alleged fraud suspect in the act; daily incident report

  Arrested: Harley Gomez, 19, Nampa

Charges: Grand Theft (F), Issuing Checks Without Funds (F)

Boise Police Detectives took the suspect into custody yesterday, February 10th, as he attempted to complete a transaction at a bank on the Boise Bench. Starting in December of last year, evidence indicates the suspect opened bank accounts at more than one bank using false identifying information. The suspect would then write checks without funds and deposit them into other accounts before withdrawing the funds. The crime was reported to Boise Police on February 9th. Detectives estimate the suspect has obtained more than $2,000.00 from 5 local bank branches in the scheme. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

Warrant Arrested: Brian J. Gillock, 26, Jerome

  Warrant Charges: Grand Theft (F)

The suspect was taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant for Grand Theft yesterday.

The arrest warrant stems from an ongoing investigation into a utility truck that the suspect allegedly failed to return after a rental. Evidence indicates the suspect rented the truck for a day in September of last year. Repeated attempts have been made to contact the suspect with no result. The vehicle was located abandoned in a parking garage several days after the rental agreement had expired. That investigative information was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and resulted in the felony warrant.

Arrested: Daniel H. Ifft, 52, Boise

Charges:Driving Under the Influence (DUI)(F), Fleeing and Evading (m)

Boise Police observed a vehicle fail to maintain its lane as it traveled North on Vista last night, February 9th, at approximately 11:00 p.m. Officers activated emergency lights, then sirens, in an attempt to get the driver to stop. The vehicle traveled approximately .49 miles before coming a stop at Vista Day. The suspect, who appeared to be very intoxicated at the time, failed several field sobriety tests and blew a .10/.10 at the Ada County Jail. A check through Ada County records indicated the suspect had prior convictions for DUI making this charge a felony. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.
