Shop with a Cop event helps equip kids for school!

The Boise Police Association and Boise Police Officers will go back to school shopping with needy kids this Saturday (August 21st) as part of the annual "Shop With  A Cop" program.

"This is exactly the kind of community involvement we love to take part in, helping kids who might otherwise go to school without the supplies they need." says Boise Police Detective Bill Smith.

Shop with a Cop is an annual event that benefits children in need of new school clothes and supplies. The program is funded through the Boise Police Association, thanks to donations from the community and assistance from K-mart stores. Boise Police officers will participate by acting as personal shoppers for about 60 children at the K Mart at Five Mile & Fairview this Saturday. K-Mart gives a discount on the clothes and items bought for the kids as well as giving them a hearty breakfast before they begin their shopping adventure. This program is intended to give kids in need a jump-start on the school year and foster a sense of community in the children.
