02-23-10 Airport Way Closed at Vista - Crash involves Car - Pedestrians
UPDATE: Boise, Feb 23, 2010 - 8:40 a.m. - Boise Police say the two pedestrians involved in a collision with a passenger car this morning are alert and talking at a local hospital. Both were injured, but neither is life threatening.
Boise, Feb 23, 2010, 8:06 a.m - Boise Police are investigating a collision between a car and two pedestrians. It happened at 6:20 a.m. this morning. Both the pedestrians, an adult man and woman have been taken to the hospital. At this time the woman's injuries do not appear life threatening. Officers on scene say the man's injuries do appear to be serious.
Traffic Impact: Airport Way at Vista is closed and will be for possibly the next 2 - 3 hours. Motorists headed to the airport from Airport Way must re-route to I-84 and access via Vista.
What Happened: This incident is still under investigation. Officers with the Boise Police Crash Reconstruction team are en route. At this time, it appears the two pedestrians were crossing on the east side of Vista north to south toward the airport when they were hit by a passenger car driven by an adult male, the only occupant of the car. The car was traveling south on Vista turning east onto Airport Way when the collision occurred. Indications are the pedestrians were headed to the airport and on scene officers say it appears they only had carry-on baggage with them.
Investigation: At this time, officers say it appears the pedestrians were crossing Vista in a crosswalk. There is a signal light at the intersection. Full details on who had the right of way, crossing with/against the lights, etc. are under investigation by BPD Crash Reconstruction experts.
