Arrested: Glenn F. Gilbert, 33, Boise
Charges: Resisting/obstructing Officers (m), Eluding Police (m), Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
Boise Police observed a vehicle perform an illegal lane change late last night (January 26th) just before midnight as it traveled westbound on Fairview west of Allumbaugh. The vehicle was traveling Southbound on the Northbound side of the road driving into oncoming traffic. The suspect, later identified as Glenn Gilbert, refused to yield to the officers overhead lights as the officer attempted to stop the truck. The vehicle proceeded south until it turned into an apartment complex on the 6900 block of Susan Lane, a dead end. The truck then came to a stop in the middle of the road and the suspect refused to exit the vehicle. The suspect replied to officers instructions with several gestures and threatening statements, before attempting to restart his vehicle and escape the dead end street. The suspect made several statements indicated he wanted the officers to shoot him, and repeatedly made deliberate movements indicating he was arming himself. Officers deployed a Tazer, removing the suspect from the vehicle. The suspect continued to actively fight officers until he was restrained and placed in a police vehicle. The suspect appeared to be intoxicated at the time of his arrest.
Officers later determined the suspect had been involved in a collision with a power pole at Fairview and Allumbaugh prior to this incident deploying his vehicles air bag and causing extensive damage. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained in that collision prior to police contact. A blood draw was performed at the hospital for later evidentiary testing. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.
