01-07-09 Charges Filed in Bank Robbery

Boise Police Charge Suspect in Bank Robbery
Suspect is already in custody for Impersonating a Police Officer

Boise, Jan, 7, 2010 - Boise Police detectives say thanks to evidence processed and linked together by the Boise Police Crime Lab, charges were filed today against a man believed to have robbed a west Boise bank last September.

Suspect: Charles S. Coleman, 26, Boise
   Charge: Robbery (F)

Background: Boise Police had been searching for the suspect who robbed the Chase Bank on the 300 block of North Milwaukee last Sept. 30th (c- news release & bank surveillance photos issued 09-30-09 at ).

In a separate investigation, Boise Police arrested suspect Charles S. Coleman for impersonating a police officer, a felony, last December 18th. The impersonation charges were connected to a series of phone calls made by the suspect who allegedly asked for information about banks in our area.

Following Coleman's arrest Dec. 18th, technicians in the Boise Police crime Lab were able to link evidence collected to both cases. because of the pending criminal charges and court proceedings, Boise Police are unable to discuss specific evidence, however, detectives say the BPD crime lab technicians did an excellent job of piecing two serious, but previously unrelated cases together.

The suspect, Coleman has been in the Ada County Jail since his December arrest. The new charges were filed against him today while in custody. Coleman is expected to be arraigned on the new robbery charges tomorrow (Friday, Jan 8th) in Fourth District Court.
