11-16-09 Fatal Collision Investigation - Chinden & Eagle

    Nov, 16, 2009, 5:18 p.m. - Boise Police continue to investigate a fatal collision on Chinden Blvd. west of Eagle Rd.

    PRELIMINARY Information: Just before 3:00 p.m., a 4 door passenger car north on Bennington turning left onto westbound Chinden may have pulled in front of a pick up pulling a utility trailer. It appears the truck broadsided the passenger car. One person, the male driver of the sedan was killed. A male passenger in the car has been transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries. the driver of the pick up suffered no physical injuries.

    At this time, the investigation into the exact cause of the crash continues. No criminal charges have been filed.

    Witnesses: Detectives are asking anyone who was driving in the area, witnessed the crash, and did not give a statement to an officer, to please call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.

    Traffic: Traffic in both directions on Chinden is now being re-opened. However, motorists are urged to drive carefully, officers are still on scene investigating the tragic collision. Some road restrictions may be in place until the on scene investigation is complete.

    The name of the man killed in the collision will be released by the Ada County Coroner following notification of family. According to Boise Police policy, names of other individuals involved will not be released, pending the ongoing investigation, or if/when a criminal charge is filed.
