10-26-09 Motorist Arrested after Hit & Run with Cyclist

Boise, Oct. 26, 2009 - A Boise woman was arrested Friday night after witnesses saw her leaving the scene of a hit and run with a cyclist.

    Arrested: Barbara Jean Walker, 55

Charge: Leaving the Scene of the Accident (m)

What Happened: Boise Police were called to a hit & run collision involving a vehicle and a cyclist Friday, Oct. 23rd at approx 1:47 p.m. Witnesses told officers a woman driving a tan Mazda pick up east on Emerald turned right onto southbound Cole. The cyclist was crossing Emerald and was hit by the pick up. The cyclist, an adult male, suffered what appeared to officers at the scene to be minor injuries. The cyclist was not transported to the hospital.

One of the witnesses who saw the Mazda drive away was an off-duty police officer. The officer was able to provide investigators with a good suspect vehicle description, including a partial license plate.

Investigating officers later found the suspect vehicle and the driver, Walker, at the suspect's home. Walker was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charges.

Safety Tip: Boise Police say if citizens witness a crime, being alert, calling 9-1-1 immediately, and looking for details can often assist officers in locating suspects.
