09-23-09 Car into House

Boise, Sept. 23, 2009 - Boise Police responded to a call of a car into a house this morning and found the driver of the car had apparently suffered a medical emergency. The driver was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Officers on scene say the man's medical emergency may be life threatening.

What Happened: Boise Police responded when a citizen called into police dispatch reporting a car had driven into a house on the 3600 blk of Jackie Ln., northwest of Maple Grove and Ustick in West Boise, at 11:14 a.m..

When officers arrived they found considerable damage to the corner of the home, a bedroom. Fortunately no one was home at the time and no one inside, including pets, were injured.

Witnesses tell officers a man in his 60's was driving on a Ford Explorer SUV with a female passenger on Jackie Ln. when the man suffered what appeared to be a serious medical emergency. The driver lost control of the vehicle as it headed toward a parked car. Witnesses say the passenger grabbed the steering wheel trying to avoid the parked car, but steered the vehicle into the home instead.

Neither the SUV driver or passenger received any apparent injuries from the collision. However, again, the driver was transported to the hospital due to the medical emergency suffered while driving. His current condition is unknown.
