09-17-09 Aggravated Assault charges top overnight arrests

Aggravated Assault charges top the overnight arrests in the City of Boise

Arrested: Benjamin R. Miele, 23, Boise

Charges: 2 counts of Aggravated Assault (F), Domestic Battery (F), Grand Theft (F), Violation of a No Contact Order (m), Probation Violation charges (m)

Boise Police were dispatched to a report of a man with a gun last night (September 16th) at approximately 7:00 p.m. at a Bench Boise home. Victims tell police that the suspect, later identified as Benjamin Miele, who is known to the victims, battered an adult female resident using his fists and feet. The suspect then retrieved a shotgun and fired the weapon into the floor. The suspect also threatened two adult victims with the shotgun, before stealing a vehicle and fleeing the scene with the weapon. Boise Police officers working with Idaho State Police located the suspect later last night at a restaurant in Hammet, a town approximately 71 miles East of Boise just off of I-84. The suspect was taken into custody at that location without incident. Officers determined that the suspect had a current No Contact Order in common with one of the victims. Officers also discovered the suspect had a current warrant for his arrest on an unrelated probation violation. Miele was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

No further information is available in this case. Further inquires should be directed to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorneys Office.
