08-26-09 Overnight Car Fires Under Investigation
Boise, August 26, 2009 - 9:36 a.m. - Boise Police and Fire investigators are looking into the causes of separate car fires overnight. What sparked the fires has not been determined. No one was injured, but both cars were completely destroyed. Officers are looking into whether the cases are connected.
Boise Firefighters were called at approx. 4:49 a.m. this morning by a resident of a home on the 1100 blk of N. Dalton who reported a car on fire in his driveway, very close to the house. Boise Firefighters arrived and found the vehicle fully involved in flames. Firefighters were able to put the flames out quickly, and despite the car being parked approx. two feet from the house, firefighters were able to keep damage to the home minimal. Fire did blacken the outside of the home near where the car was parked, and damaged a small section of the eves of the house. The car, a small sedan, was destroyed.
At 5:17 a.m., Boise Firefighters were called by a man who saw a car on fire in a neighbors driveway on the 12000 blk of W. Mesquite Dr. When firefighters arrived they found three vehicles parked in the driveway. The center vehicle, a small sedan, was fully involved in fire. Firefighters worked quickly and were able to get the flames out almost immediately. The vehicle that caught fire, was destroyed. The vehicles parked on either side, an SUV and another sedan, suffered minor damage. Firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to, or damaging the house.
Again, the cause of these fires has not been determined, the cases remain under investigation.
If anyone has information, or perhaps saw something or someone that seemed out of place in these areas early this morning, they're urged to call Boise area Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
