08-19-08 Two Pedestrians Killed in Traffic Collision
Boise, August 19, 2009 - Boise Police are on the scene of traffic collision in east Boise that killed two pedestrians.
Police were called to the intersection of E. Gossamer Ln. and E. Parkcenter Blvd at 8:46 a.m. this morning. A witness to the collision had called 911. When police arrived, witnesses said an elderly man and woman had been crossing Parkcenter west to east and were struck by a vehicle headed west on Parkcenter. Officers on scene say it appears the couple was walking in the crosswalk at the time they were hit.
The man and woman were transported to the hospital where they were both pronounced dead. The Ada County Coroner will release the names of the pedestrians as soon as their identities are confirmed and family is notified. Information given to Boise Police indicates the couple, in their 70's, is married.
The vehicle involved is a small 4-door Honda SUV driven by a 58 year old man from Boise.
At this time the cause of the collision is still under investigation. Boise Police detectives and the Boise Police Crash Reconstruction team remain on scene. While officers investigate and find what caused the collision, no citations of arrests have yet been made, pending further evidence collection.
Traffic on westbound Parkcenter is flowing, but vehicles are being slowed and routed around the scene as the investigation continues. Investigators expect traffic on Parkcenter to remain partially blocked through early afternoon.
