Boise Police Officers on foot patrol early Saturday morning (August 8th) at approximately 2:12 a.m. observed a man punching the window of a vehicle in a parking lot at 6th and Grove with his fist. When Officers approached the suspect he jumped into the drivers seat of a nearby vehicle with several other passengers and began to drive away. Boise Police identifying themselves, yelled at the suspect to stop the vehicle and ran up to the car as it drove through the parking lot. As officers ran beside the vehicle attempting to stop it, the driver abruptly swerved to the right and ran over one of the officers foot and lower leg. At this point a passenger in the vehicle yelled "Go, Go, Go." and the vehicle accelerated out of the parking lot with the officer pinned to the wheel well. The officer was dragged 15 or 20 feet before falling free of the vehicle.

Other responding officers located the vehicle a short distance away and after a brief pursuit, during which the vehicle drove onto a curb and around other cars, the vehicle was stopped at 13th and front. The driver, later identified as Jeremias Ramirez was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. A Check of records through Ada County Dispatch also revealed that the suspect was Driving Without Privileges and had an active No Contact Order with another passenger in the vehicle. Open containers of alcohol were also located in the vehicle. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

The injured Boise Police officer was transported to a local hospital and treated for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries before being released.
