07-27-09 Car Vs Bike Crash- Injuries appear serious
Boise, July 27, 2009 - Boise Police are investigating a collision between a car and a teenager riding a bike. Officers at the scene say the teen has been transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that appeared serious.
What Happened: Boise Police were called by witnesses to a collision between a young man on his bike and a vehicle this afternoon at 3:27 p.m. on the 1500 blk of N. El Dorado.
The boy, whose age has not been confirmed, but appears to officers to be in his mid-teens, was riding a BMX-style bike. He did not have a helmet. The vehicle involved is a mid-sized, older model Ford Explorer SUV.
Witnesses tell officers two boys were riding their bikes and came out of a parking lot. They entered the roadway and one was struck by the car as it traveled north on El Dorado.
At this time, Boise Police detectives are on scene interviewing witnesses. The Boise Police Crash Reconstruction Team is also en route to assist in the investigation. No citations or arrests have been made as officers are still investigating how the collision occurred, and are waiting to learn the extent of the young man's injuries.
Further details will be released as they become available.
