06-22-09 Drug Trafficking Charges top weekend arrests

Boise June 22nd, 2009 - Drug Trafficking Charges top the weekend arrests in the City of Boise


 Arrested: Roberto Inzunza-Padilla

   Charges: Trafficking in a controlled substance (Meth)(F)

 Arrested: Madrigales Jose Avitia

   Charges: Trafficking in a controlled substance (Meth)(F)

   Boise Police Narcotics officers (BANDIT) working with Boise Neighborhood Contact Officers on an ongoing investigation conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle as it entered Boise Sunday (June 21st) at approximately 4:30 p.m. near Mile Post 62. A narcotics K9 alerted on the vehicle, indicating drugs may be present. A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of approximately 1.75 pounds of meth (794 grams) with a street value of roughly  $75,000. The driver, later identified as Jose Avito Madrigales, was arrested for Trafficking in Meth. A short time later, Roberto Padilla Inzunza, was arrested in connection with the drug trafficking operation on a traffic stop at approximately 9:00 p.m. near the intersection of Cole and Overland. Boise Police Detectives have evidence that indicates the Boise men were involved in the sale of meth in the Boise area. 

Further information in this ongoing investigation is not available at this time. 


  Arrested: Michael S. Morgan, 34, Twin Falls

   Charges: Robbery (F), Burglary (F), DUI (m)

    Boise Police responded to a report of a DUI driver early Sunday morning (June 21st) at approximately 2:15 a.m. on the 700 block of South Phillippi. Witnesses say a man, later identified as Michael Morgan, who appeared to be very intoxicated, was offering beer to them from his vehicle before he left the area. As officers attempted to locate the suspect vehicle a call of a robbery at a convenience store near the intersection of Roosevelt and Rosehill was received. Witnesses tell police that the man who matched the previous incidents description entered the store and demanded money, then left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then returned to the store, and returned the money to the cashier before fleeing. The suspect then traveled to a 2nd convenience store located at Curtis and Overland. At this location several witnesses say the suspect demanded that the beer cooler be opened. When employees refused to open the cooler the suspect began urinating on the floor in the store. The suspect ultimately broke into the beer cooler and took two cases of beer before exiting the store. Witnesses say that when the suspect heard the sirens of approaching officers he ran on foot. Two citizens had entered the suspect's vehicle and taken the man's keys during the robbery, preventing his escape in the vehicle. Officers who chased the suspect were forced to use a Taser to subdue the man. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.


  Arrested: Daniel H. Doronio, 20, Mountain Home

   Charges: Aggravated Battery (F), Resisting and Obstructing Officers (m), Disturbing the Peace (m)

    Boise Police responded to a report of a fight late Friday evening (June 19st) at approximately 11:28 p.m. on the corner of 5th and Main. Witnesses say a man, later identified as Daniel Doronio, who appeared to be very intoxicated was yelling racial epithets and attempting to fight with people. The suspect struck the victim with a closed fist causing damage to the man's teeth and face. The suspect then attempted to run, but witnesses restrained him until officers arrived. The suspect continued to resist officers as they took him into custody on the Aggravated Battery charge. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.


  Arrested: Ian J. Whitaker, 33, No Known Residence

   Charges: Possession of Marijuana (m), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Heroin)(F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m)

    A Boise Police Officer on patrol in his marked unit Saturday morning (June 20th) at approximately 11:17 a.m. observed a man illegally cross 27th street as the officer was travelling North. The officer was forced to brake and stop in the road to avoid a collision with the suspect who was later identified as Ian Whitaker. As the officer made contact with the suspect, Ada County dispatch conformed that the man had several outstanding warrants for probation violations. A search of the suspect revealed 3 syringes, a plastic pill bottle full of marijuana weighing approximately 1 gram and 2 grams of heroin in a plastic container. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.


  Arrested: Brian E. Ritter, 40, No Known Residence

   Charges: Burglary (F), 2 counts of Non-Sufficient funds check (F),

    Boise Police received a report of a fraud in progress Friday (June 19th) at approximately 3:00 p.m. at a retail store on the 10000 block of West Faiview. Employees at the store tell police that the suspect, later identified as Brian Ritter, entered the store and attempted to purchase a bicycle and other items using a closed bank account. Officers who investigated this incident determined the suspect had also  purchased a bike from another store on June 1st 2009 using the closed bank account. Police officers believe the man entered the store with the intent to commit the theft by fraud of the merchandise resulting in the burglary charge. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.
