Update: May 21, 2009 - The Ada County Coroner has released the name of the cyclist killed after being hit by a van on Orchard St, just south of the Interstate.

    The coroner identifies the victim as Jim Lee Chu, 55, of Eagle. The investigation into how and why the collision occurred remains under active investigation.



Boise May 19th, 2009 - Boise Police are investigating a serious collision between a van and a bicycle

    At approximately 12:52 p.m. Boise police were dispatched to a collision near Orchard and Aeronca streets. It appears at this time that the victim, an adult male, had been riding a bike northbound on Orchard when he was struck by a van from behind. The bicyclist was transported to the hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries at the time. 

Traffic on Orchard is restricted to a single lane at this time as the accident is investigated. Officers say that motorists should avoid the area if possible. The lane restrictions are expected to last approximately one hour.

 No citations have been issued at this time however, the investigation into this incident continues.
