05-06-09 UPDATE: Car - Pedestrian Collision

Boise, May 6, 2009 - Boise Police detectives learned last night that, sadly the man hit by a car on State Street early Tuesday morning has died of his injuries.

Officers say the 62 year old man from Boise was crossing the 4000 blk of State St when he was hit. The man was not in a crosswalk or at an intersection, and evidence indicates he was likely walking north to south across State. Detectives say the man lived nearby, off State and Willow Lane. That section of State St. is dimly lit between intersections. Officers say the driver who hit the man, a young man in his mid-20's, stopped and immediately ran to a nearby business and asked an employee to call 911. The injured pedestrian was taken to the hospital by Ada County EMS, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. For further information, please contact the Ada County Coroner.

At this time, investigating officers are awaiting the results of evidence testing. No charges in the case have been filed.
