04-10-09 Officers Search for Hotel Robbery Suspect; daily arrests

    Boise, April 10, 2009 - Boise Police are searching for the man who robbed a downtown area motel, apparently for the second time in a month.

    Officers were called to a motel on the 3000 blk of Main St. at 1:35 a.m. this morning by an employee. The victim told officers a man walked into the lobby, grabbed her arm and demanded cash. The victim says the suspect verbally threatened her if she did not comply. The victim says the suspect implied that he had a gun but did not show one. The suspect was last seen leaving the motel lobby on foot.

    Officers believe the suspect could be the same man who robbed the same motel a month ago. A similar robbery occurred at the motel the morning of March 13th (see BPD news release dated March 13, 2009, "Motel Robbery - Search for Suspect" at

   Officers immediately searched the area and the nearby greenbelt, but did not find the suspect.

   At this time, the suspect does not match the description of suspects in any other similar cases under investigation.

   Suspect description: light-medium skinned male, 30-40yrs old, dark hair, approx 5' 4" - 5’ 05” tall, brown hair, clean shaven, heavy build, wearing a dark colored hooded zip up sweatshirt.

Callers with information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.     Arrested: Greg J. Bentler, 23, Boise

    Charged: Burglary (F)

    Bentler is accused of stealing intentionally stealing items, including cash from a woman's purse. This is reported to have occurred at a Boise home March 31st. The suspect and victim are known to each other.
