02-25-09 DUI Arrests top overnight crime

Boise February 25th, 2009 -  A busy Mardi Gras night resulted in numerous DUI arrests. Last night Boise Police arrested 12 DUI drivers. Officers stayed busy downtown but no serious incidents took place. Last year Boise Officers arrested 12 DUI Drivers over Mardi Gras night. To compare that with other busy nights, in 2008 Boise Police made an average of 8.2 arrests on Friday nights. 

Idaho State Police made 9 DUI Arrests last night.


Arrested: Jordan M Phillips, 21 years old of Boise

Charges: Malicious Injury to Property (F)

On February 25th, 2009 at approximately 3:00 am Officers responded to a vandalism call at the intersection of 6th and Grove streets. Witnesses identified a man sitting on a bench when they arrived as the person who had done the damage. Witnesses tell police that the suspect, who appeared to be very intoxicated, had been involved in an argument. During the dispute witnesses say the man used a wooden baseball bat to destroy two parking meters. The estimated price of the meters is roughly $2,000.00


Arrested: Jacob P Venable, 31 years old of Boise

Charges: Possession of Heroin (F), Possession of drug paraphernalia (M).

On February 24th, 2009 - at approximately 4:20 pm officers where asked to assist Idaho Probation and Parole Officers with a search at a home on the 2700 block of North 30th street. During the search officers located a small amount of heroin, syringes, razor blades, scales and other drug paraphernalia.
