12-23-08 Arrest follows Stolen Package

12-23-08 Arrest follows Stolen Package

Boise December 23rd, 2008 - An alert citizen working with Boise Police has helped his neighbors recover their stolen goods and take the suspect into custody.

"Being aware of your surroundings and knowing when something is out of place is often the best way to prevent crime." Says Boise Police Watch Commander Alan Cavener. "In this case we have the property recovered and the suspect in custody. It's thanks to good patrol follow up and a neighbor who saw something suspicious."

What happened: On December 22nd at 2:00 pm in the afternoon a package was delivered to a residence on the 1200 block of Pashcal Lane in North East Boise. The residents of the home where not at home at the time. The delivery driver left the package on the doorstep. After the delivery driver left, an alert neighbor observed a vehicle stop in front of the home and a person retrieve the package from the step.

Around 5:00 pm, when the residents returned home and learned the package was stolen the neighbor was able to provide a description and vehicle information to responding officers. Boise Police Officers using the information provided by the neighbor located the suspects at a residence near Ustick and Cloverdale in Boise. Officers recovered the stolen package and arrested the man for grand theft.

Arrested: Mark R Moreland, 20 years old of Boise

Charge: Grand Theft

At this time officers believe the incident involving this individual appears to be isolated.

Boise Police Officers recommend that if you have a package delivery and you will not be present you can have a neighbor receive the package for you or have the item delivered to your work address where someone will be available.
