11-25-08 Arrests lead to mutliple charges

Boise November 25th 2008 - The arrest of two men comes with multiple charges including aggravated assault, burglary.

What happened: On November 23rd 2008 at 10:50 p.m. Boise patrol officers observed two suspects breaking into a truck on the 5800 block of  Ellens Ferry in Boise. As several units were converged in the area, officers saw the two suspects get into a white SUV. One Officer shined his flashlight at the suspects in the vehicle to get their attention. The driver of the suspect vehicle later identified as Kevin Karaff immediately accelerated and headed straight for the Officer. The Boise Police Officer was forced to dive out of the way of the suspect vehicle. Several marked units were able to stop the vehicle a short distance away.

Officers searching the vehicle after the high risk stop found a suit case full of jewelry believed to have been stolen in a burglary that took place on the same day at a retail store at Broadway and Linden. Officers also found drug paraphernalia, a set of bolt cutters and concealed knife. After further investigation detectives determined mr Grist was also involved in another burglary that took place on September 29th at a retail outlet on milwaukee in Boise.

Arrested: Kevin K Karaff, 42 years old of Boise

Charges: Aggravated Assault (F), 1 charge of Burglary (F)

Arrested: Jason L Grist, 35 years old, residence unknown

Charges: 3 charges of Burglary (F), possession of paraphernalia (M), Possession of burglary tools (M), and carrying a concealed weapon (M)
