10-26-08 Police K9 Apprehends Wanted Subject

Boise, Oct. 26, 2008 - At about 6:30 pm on 10-26-08, Boise Police officers responded to the 4200 block of N. Vera Street which is near Goddard and Milwaukee to look for a wanted subject who was reportedly in a residence there.

Officers were able to determine that the wanted subject, Thomas E. Coffey 2nd (30 years of age) was in fact hiding in the attic of the residence. Coffey was ordered numerous times to exit the attic but he refused to show himself or acknowledge officers demands.

A police K9 was called in to assist in clearing the attic and taking Coffey into custody. Coffey was warned numerous times that the K9 was going to be used to find him but he still refused to comply or acknowledge officers. The K9 was placed into the attic and after a short time located Coffey hiding under insulation.

Coffey sustained minor injuries from being bitten and was treated at a local hospital before being booked into the Ada County Jail for his two outstanding warrants (one felony, one misdemeanor) as well as Obstructing and Delaying an Officer (misdemeanor).

See the Ada County Website for his booking photo.
